Reply Sidus, August 13th, 2012, 3:46 pm

Nereus and Oceanus Acctually, don't exist anything, Madelaine: Both, Nereus and Oceanus, are and always are been Gods, include their repectives wifes and dauthers. The only difference in two Gods is their descent and respective role:

Ponthus (The Sea) was Chaos' son, and Nereus was Gea's and Ponthus' son. In Greek Mythology, Nereus was the God who ruled the sea before Poseidon. Nereus was opposite to him because was serenity, benevolent and clairvoyant; even he breeded Aphrodite after her birth in the sea. According to Hesiod's "Theogony", Doris -one of many Oceanus' dauthers: the Oceanides- was Nereus' wife, and the Nereides -as Amphitrite- were one of his fifty dauthers.

By other way, Oceanus was Gea's and Uranus' son; he was one of six Titans and brother of the other six Titanides. According to Hesiod's "Theogony", Oceanus was married with her Titanide sister, Tethys, and from their bond gave birth three thousand Oceanides; Metis, include, was one of them in Greek Mythology.
