Yay! First comment! Is this the promise that was broken?

Reply Cuna (Guest), June 19th, 2012, 11:20 am

lol Zeus and Gaia. xD
"And no more sudden scene changes. I'm getting sick..."
"D:< !"
Haha, but now I'm getting worried that Zeus also broke the promise. :( I mean in the other comics Zeus wasn't a tyrant king, but he was definitely a jerk towards Hades. Maybe the reason why he hates hades has something to do with this promise? Idk. D8

Zeus is a LIAR! Zeus will also imprison the titans! Once they have served his purpose he will have no use for them, just like his father before him!

He betrays Gaia in the original myths.
Which is why he swallowed Metis.
After he broke his promise, Gaia was all like "Oh no you don't! If your little girlfriend (referring only to Metis, not ALL the others yet to come) has a son you'll end up just like your dad!"
So Zeus tricked Metis and swallowed her so he wouldn't be tempted to have sex with her and she lived up in his head and whispered wisdom to him (apparently, not very loudly).
Now let's think back, oh yeah! Zeus already got busy with Metis, so she was already pregnant! Thankfully for him, their kid turned out to be a girl. But Athena did have to crack Zeus' skull to get out into the real world.

Man...I'm so freaking curious where will this conversation lead to. And of course,I want to see Zeus' face when he discovers what happened to Metis.

THAT'S WHY THE STORY IS CALLED THE PROMISE - he'll become king after he broke the promise! And why he hates HAdes too much is a mystery. And i don't know why Zeus married Hera, not Metis instead

Sure...you'll keep your promises Zeus just the way you never have.
@:*:):D(Guest): Well in the original myth Hades should have been the one to inherit the throne because he was the oldest brother, but they decided to draw straws for it. So that may have something to do with it.

Well, to a point, Zeus does keep his promise to Gaia. The promise was only referring to the Giants (Hecatoncheires) and the Cyclopses, for they were the only ones imprisoned in Tartarus after Cronus became the next ruler. No where in Gaia's and Zeus's promise did she say that he had to keep the Titans free. It is because of the Titan Wars that follow shortly after Zeus frees his brothers and sisters from inside Cronus's stomach that the Titan's (except one) are imprisoned in Tartarus. Because all of the Titans, except for Atlas, fights alongside Cronus in the Titan Wars. And therefore, their punishment is to be imprisoned in Tartarus.

@ Myriads of Blue: The reason Zeus is the next ruler is because Gaia tells a prophecy that is of Zeus being the next ruler. Even if Hades is the older sibling, it is because Zeus was the leader in the Titan Wars and was the one who saved him and the others from Cronus that they all step down and let Zeus become the ruler. Because Gaia had prophesied Zeus to be the next ruler. And Hades, nor any of his other older siblings, objected to this because Zeus saved them from Cronus, as well as led them in the war between them and the Titans who fought against them.

I don't know how you intend to have this story pan out, Zelda, but I can tell you one thing: you had me hooked the moment I red page 1 of "My Seasons".=3 Can't wait to read more.XD

@elder_child_6: Actually, the three brothers (Zeus, Poseidon and Hades) did draw lots to decide who would become ruler. Hades got the underworld, Poseidon got the sea, and Zeus got to become ruler of the universe.

Reply WarriorNun, June 20th, 2012, 12:25 pm

That's really ballsy of him!

Reply Daughter of Athena (Guest), June 20th, 2012, 1:54 pm

Zeus was always sorta prophesised to rule, but when they drew lots he got the sky which made him a bigger bastard. Hades drew the underworld and Poseidon the sea. No one drew the earth because Gaea already ruled there, even if she was asleep.

Reply Sarah (Guest), June 21st, 2012, 1:45 pm

Actually I think the Earth wasn't in the drawing of the lots because it's neutral territory, not because it's Gaia's. Basically the sky is Uranos's, too, yet Zeus took it over.
And I think part of the Earth belongs to Poseidon's territory, considering he's the god of earthquakes...

MYth You guys are forgetting one important thing about the myth and that is that the comic might not even follow it. Zelda said in the description of the comic that it's going to differ from the classic myths. So Zeus,Hades, and Poseidon might not draw lots at all. And that's what I like about this comic. It portrays the myths in ways I didn't expect. So forget about what happen in the original myths and just go with the flow.

Myth is Mythical I love this manga. My theory is that Hades does something to Metis in this one, and Zues never forgives him for it, something worse than handing her over to Cronus. Also, after Metis, Zues does try his luck with Mnemosyne and Themis for a while, but still ends up with Hera in the end.
